If anyone is interested in tryout out for basketball, there are some ways to get ready for it. Every Sunday until tryouts I think, which are days following Thanksgiving, there are open gyms run by the seniors to start to get everyone into shape and back to playing the game we all miss. We will soon be going to the workout room a few times a week to lift. If you want to start training on your own, there are some exercises that you can do on your own that will help greatly. If you time yourself, for 15 minutes you can do a core workout, consisting of crunches, sit-ups, prone holds, flutter kicks and scissors for 30 seconds each. After that, you can do push-ups for 30 seconds with a minute rest time in between each for a whole of 15 minutes. Then, for a half hour work on dribbling skills, and lastly, shoot around for another half hour. On the weekends, you should run 2 miles to keep up your speed. This may sound hard, but it will definitely help you before tryouts and the season starts. This daily workout will help with a lot of other sports you play, or if you have a lot of time after school.
