This past weekend was the Accepted Dance for the 8th graders for the class of 2013. It was probably the last chance for prospective students to come and see UC. The students who were helping at the dance were divided up to do different jobs, such as freshmen and sophomores were to bring the 8th graders down to coat check, then into the gym. The DJ was great and really got the kids involved. Last year, there were a bunch of 8th graders sitting on the bleachers, either because they didn’t know anyone or just didn’t like to dance. This year, it did not take long before everyone was up and dancing.
Tomorrow night, there is a S.T.A.N.D. movie night. S.T.A.N.D. is one of the clubs at UC, dealing with the issue in Darfur. Darfur is a very bad area at the moment, being in the middle of a civil war and this club does a lot to try to help. Tonight, dinner is going to be catered and provided between 6 and 7, and there will be a movie about Darfur, which is supposed to be a very good documentary. There is a 5 dollar entrance fee, and the proceeds go to helping Darfur. I hope it is a great success for everyone involved, because I know there has been a lot of work put into this.
